RECYCLING
Dealing with Demolition and Construction Waste Suppliers of Crushed Materials
With increased emphasis on recycling and concerns about easing environmental damage caused by the construction industry, Lancebox has needed companies in the specialist area of recycling waste aggregates from our demolition sites.
Lancebox has a policy of salvaging and recycling materials wherever possible. The recycling of materials can save money, save energy, reduce the amount of raw material extracted and waste material disposed of in landfill sites. As a business that adds to the problem of waste disposal at landfills, Lancebox feels responsible to find sensible and beneficial solutions. We feel that in conjunction with our recycling associates we have achieved this.
Why Recycle Demolition and Construction Waste?
In 1994, the cost to tip general waste materials was about £10 per tonne compared to £36 in 2004, an increase of nearly 400%. By 2014, this price, assuming that the current level of landfill sites remain available and excluding fuel and general running costs, it is likely to quadruple to around £144 per tonne.
The Government has now increased emphasis on recycling, and there are real concerns about easing environmental damage caused by the construction industry. Landfills are now also an unacceptable long term solution. Managing waste properly and using recycled materials not only saves money and the environment but is also good business practice.
Our recycling associate companies are ideally located in key positions within the Thames Gateway. The Thames Gateway is a national priority for regeneration and growth. Thousands of demolition and construction projects are taking place in this area. It is the first and biggest of the Governments four growth areas identified in the Sustainable Communities Plan, launched by the Deputy Prime Minister in February 2003. It is also facing redevelopments of various sites in preparation for the London Olympics in 2012. With such a volume of work and demand for construction materials locally it makes sense for as much of the materials used as possible to be recycled.
Our associate recycling companies are very confident that they can provide a "one stop" service for the construction industry for new builds, refurbishments and strip outs. The recycling of materials can save money, preserve natural resources, save energy and reduce the amount of raw material extracted and waste material disposed of in landfill sites whilst also preserving the land from excessive quarrying.
